It’s time to talk rubbish. Creativity is making beauty from waste. What could be the best way to attract your community and friends into being an upcyclist? How can the upcycling movement play a role in circular economy and design? Let’s take a deeper look at how upcycling can be part of art in this day and age. Explore the grime and grit when it comes to getting ones hand deep into making with waste materials and how it embodies cross disciplinary learning. The upcyclist’s purpose is not only to breathe life into waste, his/her existence will also breathe life into your community.

This talk will happen together with a simple upcycled lamp workshop made using recycled timber from DBKL tree chopping initiatives.

Imagine if you could empty your trash, and turn it into light. In this practical hands-on up-cycling workshop, we will help you turn an otherwise useless piece of rubbish into a fashionable lamp. We will teach you how to make your very own lamp out of virtually anything. During this 2 hour workshop you will learn how to safely and correctly upcycle as well as learn basic electronic and wiring skills to make your own lights. Once completed and checked you will be provided with a low energy LED Edison Filament Bulb for a secret final display.

Missing some light in that one corner in your living room? We got just what you need! The catch is, you will need to DIY. It will be your ultimate masterpiece to bring home!

Appropriate for ages 16 and above.
